Planning

Floods and near flood situations due to extreme weather of the recent decade drew the attention to the fact that prevention and preparation for such situations should be taken more seriously.

There are companies among the members of the Cluster that have already proved their expertise and readiness in the field of flood prevention.

After the reconstruction of the damages caused by the Danube floods of 2002 and 2006, the Budapest Waterworks started a consistent flood prevention concept based on two main objectives. One is the letting through the huge amount of water in a controlled way, the other is the protection of water service facilities so that they can continuously operate.

The flood prevention planning tasks do not only include the elaboration of the reinforcement of protection, but also the solution of flood-related potable water contamination problems and the recovery of the damages of the water and drainage infrastructure after flood.
